The Transportable Home Process

[fusion_dropcap color=”#63A70A” boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”20%” class=”” id=””]T[/fusion_dropcap]here are many different reasons why people choose to relocate their homes. Maybe you just don’t want to leave the home you love behind when changing work locations, you love a already pre-built home, perhaps you want more land or purchased land but don’t want the high costs of building a home. Factors such as flood prone areas, encroaching land development and unpleasant neighborhoods can also affect your decision as to why you would choose to move.

Benefits of Transporting A Modular Home

Relocating a home can be a more cost and time effective method than building a brand new home. Relocatable homes also make less of an impact on the environment, reducing waste materials ending up in landfill or new materials being produced instead of being recycled. Transporting your home also allows you to keep your home exactly the way you like it if you just want to change locations.

Things That Need to be Considered When Moving A Modular Home

  1. One of the things that need to be considered is whether or not the building you want to relocate is able to be moved. Heritage listed homes and houses, located down a steep descend, surrounded by trees may not be able to be transported as they need to be approved or need substantial work done in preparation for it to be able to be assessed and transported.
  2. Council building permits need to be obtained before any work can commence in preparation to the move; at Hoek Modular Homes this is all taken care of for you taking the stress off the homeowner’s shoulders. Contact or visit your local council website for more information about second dwelling requirements and approvals.
  3. Soil types can also affect your moving process. As part of Hoek Modular Home’s building process, a soil test is taken (included in the quoted price), from the proposed site, which determines the nature of the soil and any modifications that need to be undertaken before moving and installing your home.
  4. If there is a mortgage still on the home that is being moved, the bank is usually contacted to also approve the move.
  5. Insurance is essential in the transportation process. Those who transport their homes privately would normally require adequate insurance to cover the move and any possible damages that could occur; however if buying and transporting a home from Hoek Modular Homes this is all taken care of for you, for a bit of extra peace of mind.
  6. Plans are generated to inform of the exact positioning of the home, foundations, stump heights (if needed) and any additional components that need to be added/attached once the home is positioned.
  7. Finally the route that the home is transported along needs to be approved to ensure it is safe and can easily be maneuvered along by an oversized vehicle. Things like tree-lined roads, low hanging powerlines and bridges all need to be taken into consideration. Traffic control may also need to be organised for difficult or busy routes to ensure your home reaches its destination safely.

The Move

Once all the plans, permits, financing, soil and route has been approved we can now look at how the house is pulled from its foundations and moved.

Firstly, power, water and other utilities need to be disconnected from the house and then the digging can begin. Plans and direction from the council, give detail to safe areas to dig around the foundations, removing garden beds and trees to allow access to the houses base, if the home is on ground level (not raised). Steel beams are them inserted into the foundations which hold the weight of the home allowing it to be raised securely. Once these beams are secured to the base of the house the home is then slowly raised evenly from the ground. Modular homes or pre-built homes are often simply moved onto temporary draw bars with wheels and winched onto a truck. Workers monitor and guide the house onto the transportation vehicle, cranes are sometimes required to assist with this process.

On the truck, the home is chained and strapped securely to ensure there is no possible movement whilst it is being transported. Securely on board the house is then transported along the designated route, with escorted by pilot vehicles if necessary.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container][fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_2″ last=”yes” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”0″ animation_direction=”down” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_imageframe lightbox=”no” gallery_id=”” lightbox_image=”” style_type=”none” hover_type=”none” bordercolor=”” bordersize=”0px” borderradius=”0″ stylecolor=”” align=”none” link=”” linktarget=”_self” animation_type=”0″ animation_direction=”down” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” hide_on_mobile=”no” class=”” id=””] Hoek Modular Homes Transportable Homes Being Transported[/fusion_imageframe][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container][fusion_builder_container background_color=”” background_image=”” background_parallax=”none” enable_mobile=”no” parallax_speed=”0.3″ background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” video_url=”” video_aspect_ratio=”16:9″ video_webm=”” video_mp4=”” video_ogv=”” video_preview_image=”” overlay_color=”” overlay_opacity=”0.5″ video_mute=”yes” video_loop=”yes” fade=”no” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding_top=”20″ padding_bottom=”20″ padding_left=”” padding_right=”” hundred_percent=”no” equal_height_columns=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” menu_anchor=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_text]

A New Home

The house, when it arrives, is slowly directed back off the truck by a professional team and repositioned with a new foundation. Modular homes often are transported in 1-4 modules/parts and then reassembled at the destination. The process then begins to add the final touches and foundations, replacing any fixtures that needed to be removed, such as a deck or stairs. Once finished utilities can be reconnected and viola!

Each house is different depending on size and structure. Hoek Modular Homes transportable home designs are specifically designed and custom built to withstand being transported and have all council approvals taken care of for you, also offering financing solutions.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container][fusion_builder_container background_color=”” background_image=”” background_parallax=”none” enable_mobile=”no” parallax_speed=”0.3″ background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” video_url=”” video_aspect_ratio=”16:9″ video_webm=”” video_mp4=”” video_ogv=”” video_preview_image=”” overlay_color=”” overlay_opacity=”0.5″ video_mute=”yes” video_loop=”yes” fade=”no” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding_top=”20″ padding_bottom=”20″ padding_left=”” padding_right=”” hundred_percent=”no” equal_height_columns=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” menu_anchor=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_text]
